Scammers active on behalf of insurers.
The Association of Insurers warns of chatty criminals saying they need to check your home as part of fire safety and smoke alarms mandatory from 1 July 2022. However, these criminals have only one objective and that is to take stock of whether there is anything to get in the homes. With the holiday season just around the corner, this is also a prime time to do this.
Reports have also come in that consumers are being called and emailed for inspection appointments. These so-called inspectors then come to carry out inspections to prevent fires caused by electrical installations. Fuse boxes and solar panels are often given as reasons for this.
Smoke alarms mandatory from 1 July 2022
The requirement of smoke detectors by 1 July 2022 in every home thus frequently uses these door-to-door criminals. The Association of Insurers itself never writes and carries out inspections. So be alert and when in doubt, first contact your insurer yourself or alert the police.
